Tony Gravelly – Simon Oliveira: prediction for mixed martial arts (MMA) from Gleb Kozhikov

A preliminary card match at the first numbered UFC tournament in 2022.

Tony Gravelly

30-year-old American fighter, 21-7 pro, trains in the American Top Team gym, former champion of the CES organization. Tony got into the UFC through Dana White’s Candidate Streak in 2020, when he finished Ray Rodriguez in Round 3. In the best league in the world, Gravelly alternates victories with defeats: he passes mediocre fighters like Freites and Birchak, but problems arise with strong opponents like Brett Jones and Nate Mannes.

Simon Oliveira

Brazilian, 30 years old, professional record 18-3, trains in the Astra Fight Team. Simon, like Tony, got into the UFC through DWCS, but it happened in September 2021, when the Brazilian defeated Jose Aldai by split decision. Oliveira is primarily a jitser, who has not badly pulled up the stance, outwardly and stylistically somewhat reminiscent of the current UFC champion – Charles Oliveira, but in terms of skills, of course, there is a chasm between them.

Forecast for the fight

The stylistic confrontation between the basic wrestler and the basic jitser. It seems to me that Tony will be, if not better, then at least no worse than the Brazilian in the standing position, and if Gravelly does not succeed in his arms, he will calmly transfer Oliveira to the ground. On the ground, not to say that Simon is mega dangerous, if you watch his last few fights, you can see that it is problematic for him to rise to the rack. In the aggregate of all the factors, I believe that Graveli will win this meeting and, according to equal odds, I am ready to take his victory in advance, since we will see other quotes directly before the battle.
